The wonderful Lago di Pusiano, nestled between the peaks of Lombardy, along with the modern on-site performance center, provided ideal training conditions. Our athletes spent two weeks completing up to three sessions a day, complemented by daily gymnastics and stabilization training, all in preparation for the season’s upcoming challenges. Besides logging many kilometers on the water, intense workouts in their respective small boats, and strength training, a significant focus was placed on ergometer sessions, as the Leipzig squad review was scheduled just one weekend after their return.
Unfortunately, due to the group’s size, accommodation had to be separated. The sweep rowers stayed in quad rooms with lake views above the Centro, while the scullers and lightweight rowers were housed in a hotel on the opposite side of the lake. Breakfast was served at their respective accommodations, and lunch and dinner were provided at a restaurant directly by the jetties, where an abundance of pasta in various forms was served at every meal.
On the few free afternoons, excursions were made to Varese or Bellagio, which often meant plenty of gelato.
All in all, it was a very successful training camp.
