Annual General Meeting 2023

This year’s Annual General Meeting of the AAC/NRB State Rowing Association Hamburg took place on March 27, 2023. The Wilhelmsburger Ruder Club was the host, warmly welcoming the representatives of Hamburg’s rowing clubs and associations, as well as individual members of the AAC/NRB LRV Hamburg, for the last time at the old location before the major new construction of the boathouse.

In addition to the formalities and the report on the past financial year, the meeting focused on commemorating the recently deceased board members Gerhard Meyboden and Hartmut Meyer. Chairman Andreas Döpper recalled the work and merits of the two former board colleagues, before the assembly rose in silence to honor the deceased.

The assembly was subsequently pleased that, within a very short time, an international referee, Philip Schmolling from Berlin, had been found for the Regattas department, and he declared his willingness to succeed Gerhard Meyboden. After a humorous application speech, the assembly unanimously elected him as an assessor for the Regatta Jury, with his own abstention. Bernd Nennhaus was also unanimously (re-)elected to his position as Deputy Chairman & Competitive Sports, as was Cornelius Grajecki for the new position of Deputy Chairman & Regattas. A generational change took place in the area of auditors. After more than 20 years of service, Kai Simon retired from his position, and the assembly elected Birte Senska, the former chairwoman of the Hamburg Rowing Youth, as his successor. Alongside the re-elected Peter Voss, she will oversee the correctness and regularity of the association’s accounting and annual financial statements. Treasurer Guido Schaudin thanked Kai Simon for the trusting cooperation and the many helpful tips regarding the association’s accounting.

In addition to various squad reviews, three major regattas are again on the program in Allermöhe in 2023: the International Junior Regatta, the North German Championships, and the Baltic Cup / City Comparison. Trixi Freitag, the responsible regatta volunteer supervisor, campaigned for many voluntary helpers. The assembly also discussed the current problems with the property tax reform and the introduction of SAMS.

Finally, the assembly bid farewell to Elke Seibt, the loyal soul of the office, as she entered her well-deserved (un)retirement.

For many years a helpful and competent contact person for the AAC/NRB LRV Hamburg, Elke now wants to devote more time to her grandchildren and garden.

With long-lasting applause, those present wished her much enjoyment and thanked her for her work.

Her successor, Ines Stelzig, introduced herself, having already completed the handover with Elke in recent weeks and now taking the helm.

With a triple hip-hip-hooray and the promise to the Wilhelmsburger RC to return to the new boathouse for a meeting, the 2023 Annual General Meeting concluded. Individual members and clubs will soon receive the official minutes.
