State decision 2026: The North rows in Hamburg-Allermöhe
This coming weekend, Hamburg-Allermöhe will be all about junior rowing: on June 13 and 14, 2026 we are organizing the state rowing competition for boys and girls together with the Hamburg Rowing Youth.
The junior teams from Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein meet at the regatta course on the Dove-Elbe. Five state rowing youth teams, a joint regatta weekend – and many young athletes for whom this competition is a very special step.
The state competition is the central qualification competition in the U15 category. The rowers compete in the long distance over 3,000 meters and the short distance over 1,000 meters. In the end, it’s not just about good times and placings, but also about being nominated for the national competition of the German Rowing Youth – the most important nationwide competition for young rowers in this age group.
The current registration result shows how strong the north is in the junior sector: 50 clubs, 191 teams and 416 athletes have registered. This means that Allermöhe will once again be a lively meeting place for young rowers, coaches, support staff, families and clubs from all over northern Germany this weekend.
For many children, the state competition is one of the first major competitions of their rowing career. That’s what makes this event so special: it’s about sporting ambition, team spirit, excitement before the start, shared experiences on and off the water – and the joy of developing as a team.
The Hamburg Rowing Youth will be supporting young rowers far beyond this weekend. With courses, training measures and preparation for the national competition, it creates important development opportunities for young athletes in Hamburg. The state competition is a central component of this: it shows how the promotion of young talent, club work and voluntary commitment work together.
Together with the Hamburg Rowing Youth, we are looking forward to two sporty, fair and lively regatta days in Allermöhe – with lots of races, lots of energy and hopefully many moments that the young athletes will remember.
