At the 67th Rowing Day in Halle an der Saale, our Vice Chairman and Sports Director Bernd Nennhaus was awarded the Plaque for Special Merits, which has been presented since the 1958 Rowing Day.

Dr. Lars Koltermann, as a DRV Presidium member, delivered the laudatory speech for this, which is also attached as an appendix:

“The person being honored has dedicated almost their entire life to rowing and continues to do so.”

When Bernd retired as a coach in 2019, this was not a reason for him to stop being involved in rowing. Bernd then transitioned into a volunteer role and has since served there as Vice Chairman of the State Association and Sports Director. To this day, he promotes youth competitive sports there, especially the athletic and professional development of the coaches. Due to his personality, extensive expertise, and high professionalism, he has exceptionally managed to transition from a full-time coaching position to a volunteer role and to foster and guide young people in their development.”

Brigitte Bielig was awarded the Plaque for Special Merits at the Rowing Day for her many years of service as a national coach at the DRV (most recently as head coach), as was Lothar Trawiel for his many years of service as a national coach, Marc Hildebrandt for his many years of work as Chairman of the German Rowing Youth and on the DRV Presidium, and Michael Hehlke for his many years of commitment as Managing Director of the Berlin State Rowing Association.
