+++ Hamburg-Allermöhe becomes the European location of European Rowing +++

New European Rowing Development Center officially opened

With the official opening of the European Rowing Development Center in Hamburg-Allermöhe, our location on the Dove-Elbe has become even more important. European Rowing has thus opened a new European location in Hamburg and sent a clear signal for the future of rowing in Europe.

This is a special step for us as the Hamburg State Rowing Association. For many years, Allermöhe has stood for high-performance rowing, for good development opportunities and for an infrastructure that has grown to a high level. The new Development Center now adds another important dimension: Hamburg will become a place where central future topics of European rowing will be bundled, further developed and networked.

A location with prospects

The new Development Center will serve as a platform for promotion, development, training and networking. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the performance of European rowing and further expand cooperation between associations, clubs, experts and athletes.

The focus is primarily on four areas: modern training and further education for coaches, the sustainable promotion of young and top athletes, direct support for associations and clubs and stronger international networking in the sport of rowing.

This makes it clear that this is not just about a new name or an additional location, but about concrete development work for our sport. Knowledge, experience and structures are to be brought even closer together in future – with a clear view to the future.

Broad support for this step

Numerous guests from the worlds of sport, politics and associations came to Hamburg-Allermöhe for the opening. The published contributions include Alexander Kersten, Jean-Christophe Rolland, Katharina von Kodolitsch, Asunción Loriente, Andy Grote, Moritz Petri, Andreas Döpper and Robert Sens. This shows the broad support for this step and the importance attached to the new European location.

At the same time, it was clear that the opening was far more than just a formal event. The day was characterized by exchange, encounters and a shared conviction: The sport of rowing continues to develop well where strong locations, good cooperation and clear perspectives come together.

Hamburg continues to gain weight

With the new Development Center, the international importance of Hamburg-Allermöhe continues to grow. The location already stands for training, regattas and competitive sport at a high level. With the establishment of European Rowing, Allermöhe will now also become a place where important development issues in European rowing are dealt with and supported.

This is a strong sign for Hamburg. For rowing in our city, it is a confirmation of the work that has been done here for years. And for European rowing, it is a step that shows how important well-positioned, reliable locations are for the future of our sport.

Looking ahead together

Under the leadership of Asunción Loriente, President of European Rowing, European Rowing is pursuing a clear strategy together with World Rowing to further professionalize the sport. Hamburg-Allermöhe is to make an active contribution to this in future – as a place of exchange, development and cooperation.

We are delighted that this new European site is located on the Dove-Elbe. The European Rowing Development Center strengthens Hamburg, strengthens Allermöhe and provides an important impetus for the further development of rowing in Europe.
