On behalf of the Allgemeiner Alster-Club / Norddeutscher Ruderer-Bund, we extend our warmest congratulations to the Lüneburger Ruder-Club Wiking v. 1875 e.V. on its 150th anniversary!
We are very proud to have the Lüneburger Ruder-Club Wiking v. 1875 e.V., the oldest rowing club in Lower Saxony, as a member of the AAC/NRB, alongside Germany’s oldest rowing club. Our shared history dates back a long way to the time of the Norddeutscher Ruderer Bund, where the founding clubs from Lüneburg were members of the NRB.
Following the merger of AAC/NRB on the one hand, and the fusion of LRC/LRC Wiking on the other, their membership has continued with us in the AAC/NRB State Rowing Association Hamburg to this day, in addition to their membership in Lower Saxony. We are very pleased about this and look forward to many more years together in our beautiful sport of rowing.
The history of the Lüneburger Ruder-Club Wiking v. 1875 e.V. is based on numerous mergers with rowing clubs in the region. In the process, many challenges were overcome, such as the management of several boathouses and boat parks along the Ilmenau, Lösegraben, and the Elbe Lateral Canal.
The successes at national and international regattas confirm the excellent work in youth development, from national competitions to championships, which later also produced very successful individual talents.
For the future, we wish the Lüneburger Ruder-Club Wiking v. 1875 e.V. continued success and joy in rowing, and good luck with their rowing!
