Tschentscher: Olympics would be a great opportunity for Hamburg
Hamburg’s First Mayor Peter Tschentscher has described the Olympic Games as a great opportunity for the city. In the interview, he particularly emphasized the long-term effects of a possible bid, for example for urban development, sport and Hamburg’s international visibility.
At the same time, Tschentscher made it clear that an Olympic bid would only be viable with the broad support of the people of Hamburg. Transparent planning and an open discussion were key prerequisites for this. Experience from previous bid processes would be taken into account.
Concrete decisions on an application have not yet been made. Instead, the current focus is on carefully examining the opportunities and framework conditions and involving the public at an early stage.
